ASH AND BONE

Bare lies the foundation
where my body rests
exposed yet unbroken
frame crushed
as hell’s weight descended

bloated brick and rotted wood
bear witness to ragged scars,
fragile remnants hang
amid shattered bones
crumbling slowly
beneath marred remains

splintered glass of broken dreams
jagged edges cutting raw,
scarce left
but crushed mortar and dust layers deep

a skeleton erected
in the shadow of felled walls
demons haunting corners
of destroyed belief
and fractured calm

no cracks apparent
the foundation—unyielding
and from the ghostly depths
ascending from the rubble

reborn from the ashes
the phoenix rises
stronger,
renewed-whole
a soul revival.
